Introduction to IMMS

An integrated operational management system for Motoring Authorities.

In 2009 CAMS introduced the new Integrated Motoring Management System.

The System

The Integrated Motoring Management System developed by CAMS is a framework to enable the efficient management of motor sport and related motoring enthusiast activities in a coordinated, transparent and flexible approach to all areas of core business. It is a system designed for motoring authorities, particularly those who hold status as a National Sporting Authority within the discipline of motor sport.

A strong need has existed for an integrated approach to the management of motor sport and related motoring activities.

IMMS brings together both competitive and non-competitive events and activities to create a true integrated approach to motor sport and motoring enthusiast management.

The competition discipline areas are:

  • Race
  • Speed
  • Rally Road
  • Off Road
  • Auto Test
The non-competition discipline area is:
  • Social

Each discipline area holds its very own brand identity to enable clear visual linkage and allow the membership to navigate easily through the processes and procedure of CAMS.
The design of the IMMS logo is reminiscent of the fast-paced nature of motor sport and related motoring activities. The segmented shape of the circles serves as a visual cue of many aspects related to motor sport, such as tyre marks, a speedometer, lines on the road, wheels of a car, and the maintenance aspect of motoring.

Race & Speed

Race and speed activities are administered at the national level by the Australian Motor Racing Commission.

The Commission is charged with specific responsibility for strategic planning and development of circuit racing and also has specific responsibility for policy development, rules and regulations pertaining to circuit racing and speed events. This also includes the development and monitoring of technical and sporting regulations for the various categories of race and speed.

State Panels on Race and Speed have a direct reporting relationship with the Commission.

Rally/Road

Activities are administered at the national level by the Australian Rally Commission. The Commission is charged with specific responsibility for strategic planning and development for national rallying, including the integration of all levels of rally sport and rules and regulations pertaining to rally and the development and monitoring of technical and sporting regulations specific to rallying.

State Panels on Rally/Road have a direct reporting relationship with the Commission.

Off Road

off road

Activities are administered at the national level by the Australian Off Road Commission. The Commission is charged with specific responsibility for strategic planning and development for national off roading, including the integration of all levels of off road sport and rules and regulations pertaining to off road and the development and monitoring of technical and sporting regulations specific to off roading.

State Panels on Off Road have a direct reporting relationship with the Commission.

Auto Test

auto test

Activities are administered by the Australian Sport & Club Development Commission. The Commission is charged with specific responsibility for strategic planning and development for auto test activities, including the integration of all levels of Motorkhana, Khanacross and rules and regulations pertaining to auto test and the development and monitoring of technical and sporting regulations specific to auto test.

State Panels on Auto Test have a direct reporting relationship with the Commission.

Social

social

Activities are administered by the Australian Marque/Touring/Enthusiasts Commission. The Commission is charged with specific responsibility for strategic planning and development for social activities, including the integration of all levels of Social. Social in its pure sense is non-competitive. Unlike the other discipline areas there is no requirement for this Commission to develop technical or sporting regulations.

State Panels on Social have a direct reporting relationship with the Commission.

Historic Motoring is administered by the Australian Historic Commission. Historic flows across all areas of competition and activities and is a significant future growth area. The Commission has authority to manage historic motor racing, including matters of vehicle eligibility and the rules for historic competition. The management and control of eligibility is assigned to the Historic Eligibility Committee, and is applied by the Historic Eligibility Officers in the field.
State Panels on Historic Motoring have a direct reporting relationship with the Commission.

Volunteer Officials are a vital part of motor sport. Without them the sport would not be able to function. Officials are needed in all disciplines of the sport in order to ensure that motor sport is conducted in the safest possible way, that the competition is fair and that the rules governing the sport are upheld.
The Australian Officials Commission is charged with development, management and training of motor sport officials. The National Officiating Program includes training and accreditation of officials in all disciplines of the sport. Approximately 11,000 officials hold accreditation through the program.
State Panels on Officials have a direct reporting relationship with the Commission.

Other committees of motor sport and related activities that come under the umbrella of CAMS will be managed by functional management and advisory committees established at the discretion of the CEO. These committees may be established for either an enduring or fixed term on a project or issues basis.
In the interests of maintaining the integrity of the judicial system the Judicial Committee is responsible for the national co-ordination of state based Stewards panels and other related judicial and investigative processes excluding the activities of the Australian Motor Sport Appeal Court (AMSAC) which is an independent body.

State-level co-ordination of sport and the organisation is administered by the Sport & Club Development Councils. This is the only body at a state level referred to as a "Council" and continues to be the state level representative body consisting of club representation.
Sport and Club Development Councils have a direct reporting relationship with the Australian Sport and Club Development Commission.

CAMS delegates authority for Drag Racing, Sprintkart Racing and Speedway Racing to recognised bodies by a process of annual renewal. Those delegations are subject to approval by the FIA, and the activities are conducted under conditions which must be approved by CAMS and notified to the FIA.
