Australian Sport and Club Development Commission

The Australian Sport and Club Development Commission (ASCDC) was formally established on 1 January 2009 in response to specific needs identified by car clubs, and will have responsibility for all matters relating to the support, development and growth of club level motor sport activities and car clubs and their membership.  

 

Functions and Responsibilities of ASCDC

  • Responsibility to consider and make recommendations to the Board on National Competition Rules as they may apply to club level motor sport and car clubs.

  • Specifically charged with the responsibility for strategic planning and development of Auto Test activities (eg: Khanacross, Motorkhana, Observed Section Trials) and the development and monitoring of technical and sporting regulations.

  • Specifically charged with the responsibility for strategic planning and development of Speed activities (eg: Autocross, Hillclimb, Lap Sash/Sprints, Supersprints) and the development and monitoring of technical and sporting regulations.

  • The proactive consideration of policy in relation the growth and development of club level motor sport and car clubs, and a vision for the future.

  • Monitoring and provision of advice on CAMS related expenses of car club activities, including fees and costs, to keep membership of car clubs attractive to existing and prospective members, and ensure efficient and appropriate contribution to CAMS operational, insurance and administrative overheads.

  • Review and recommendation of paperwork, systems and procedures required by CAMS for club level activities.

  • Facilitate the marketing activities of car clubs and the promotion of membership and its benefits to generate greater participation and to stimulate existing and potential sponsors.

  • The marketing of CAMS club affiliation to affiliated and non-affiliated car clubs, working in conjunction with the Australian Marque/Touring/Enthusiasts Commission.

  • Develop and market a suite of CAMS car club products that represent value-for-money and help simplify the administration of car clubs.

  • Identify and support the needs of club event promoters, organisers, competitors and officials.

  • Proactive advice and support with safety related matters at clubs and for club activity.

  • Advice on ways to improve and simplify communication between CAMS and car clubs.

  • Development of policies and positions in liaison with Management in support of car clubs and their activities in relation to government or other external entity influences.

  • Development of club recognition and rewards strategy.

  • Development and maintenance of a Club Handbook.

  • Any other matter delegated by the Board and/or Chief Executive Officer on club level motor sport or car clubs. 

Structure of Commission

The number of Commissioners will be limited to:

  •  Chairman, appointed by the Board;

  •  one Commissioner from each State Council, nominated by the respective State Councils in consultation with the ASCDC Chairman, and appointed by the Board;

  • minimum of two Commissioners appointed for their experience in areas or skills required by the Commission. They shall be recommended by the ASCDC Chairman and subject to Board approval.  

Commissioners will hold office for a calendar year, or the balance of the calendar year if appointed during the year to replace a retiring member prior to the normal expiration of term. There is no limitation on the re-appointment of Commissioners.
