Australian Officials Commission

The Australian Officials Commission (AOC) has been established by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport Limited (CAMS) to contribute to the strategic development of officiating in motor sport and to assist in the ongoing management of officials across all motor sport disciplines.

The AOC shall ensure that the interests of officials in motor sport are considered fairly and equitably in its deliberations and decisions. All deliberations, recommendations and decisions shall be in the best interests of officiating on a local, state and national basis. In pursuing any issue in the national interest, the AOC will, where relevant consider the potential implications of its recommendations and decisions on the interface between competition in Australia and internationally; competition in each State and nationally; and any potential impact on all motor sport disciplines.

AIMS

Contribute to a national framework that informs, supports and recognises the recruitment, retention, development and recognition of volunteer officials.
Accept the challenge of contributing to a robust and proactive framework that utilises various and appropriate technology and media.
Ensure our communication is effective, regular and consistent.
Maintain a united, positive and forward thinking membership.
Functions and Responsibilities
The AOC shall be the peak body for provision of advice to the Board of CAMS regarding all matters related to officiating in motor sport and shall have executive management responsibility for various functions relating to officiating as approved by the Board of CAMS.

The AOC shall consider a wide range of issues including but not limited to:

• The needs of officials
• The needs of event organisers and promoters
• The needs of competitors
• The needs of venue operators
• The promotion of education for officials to generate greater patronage, publicity and favourable public awareness
• Support officials in conjunction with various other Committees and Commissions
• Communications, with particular emphasis on the circulation of proposals and the seeking of comments, and the circulation of decisions made

Memberships

A board appointed Chairman.
Six state Sports and Club Development Council nominated and Board approved commissioners and two Board endorsed specially appointed commissioners.
