As the 2009 motor sport year comes to an end, it is time to honour our motor sport champions, series winners and CAMS award winners and look at some of the highlights in achievements for 2009.

The Independent Review Panel - Historics presented its final report to the CAMS Board for ratification at the December Board meeting.

The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) has become one of the first national sporting authorities (ASN) to be appointed a Regional Training Provider (RTP) by the FIA Institute for Motor Sport Safety and Sustainability. The appointment is linked to the Officials Safety Training Programme, which is one of three programmes forming part of the FIA Motor Sport Safety Development Fund.

The Motorkhana Test Booklet has undergone a major overhaul and is now available on the CAMS website for application from 1 January 2010.

The Australian Motor Sport Foundation (AMSF) has announced that Molly Taylor, Scott Pye and James Kovacic have been selected to represent the AMSF International Rising Star Program in 2010.

Applications are now open for the 2010 CAMS Driver Development Programs.

In a history making weekend, Joey Foster and Mitch Evans took Formula 3 Australian Drivers’ Championship glory at Sandown Raceway in Melbourne; a dramatic turn of events delivering Foster the championship and Evans the F3 SuperPrix season finale.

Australian NASCAR driver Marcos Ambrose was yesterday honoured by CAMS with the prestigious Sir Jack Brabham Award at the Sydney Telstra 500 in Sydney.

CAMS has announced the establishment of a representative Task Force to operate within Victoria to explore and address the issues of concern to Victorian clubs.

Well known Tasmanian motor sport identity Ken Roddam, 62, passed away on Thursday 3 December, following a serious heart attack.

Representatives from CAMS, The Australian Saloon Car Company (TASCCO), including representation from the majority of states, and the WA Saloon Car Association (WASCA) met at a forum in Melbourne today in an effort to shape the category’s future and resolve a number of ongoing issues.

Racing great Sir Jack Brabham was honoured at a joint Kangan Batman TAFE Automotive Centre of Excellence (ACE) and Docklands Chamber of Commerce event last week.

As indicated in yesterday's article regarding Saloon Cars, CAMS has today furnished invitations to competitor group representatives and/or key stakeholders within the category for a forum to be held in Melbourne next Monday to assist in shaping the future of the category arrangements and most importantly resolve the current issues that exist.

CAMS is currently reviewing the options for the organisation and management of the 2010 Australian Saloon Car Series following the surprise rejection of the previously agreed Competition Management Agreement (CMA) for 2010 – 2012 by The Australian Saloon Car Company (TASCCO).

The lives of Gary Tierney and David Carra will be honoured and remembered at respective funeral services in Melbourne.

The Australian Motor Sport Foundation (AMSF) has today announced that Liam Sager and Garry Jacobson have been selected as rookies in representing the CAMS Rising Star Program in 2010.

CAMS is deeply saddened by passing of Gary Tierney and David Carra following an accident at the Classic Adelaide rally yesterday.
