Approximately 1700 motor sport events are run in Australia under a CAMS event permit every year. These events are run by CAMS-affiliated car clubs and commercial entities alike, and are run in accordance with an extensive regulatory framework that CAMS has developed over its history.

Owing to the inherent complexity and dangerous nature of the sport every event run under CAMS sanction must be run in accordance with the National Competition Rules (NCR) and the various standing regulations that have been developed for the RACE, RALLY / ROAD, OFF ROAD, SPEED and AUTO TEST disciplines. These rules and regulations not only define and provide structure to the sport; they also provide a consistency for those involved in the event, namely the competitors and officials.

For more information on the specific disciplines of motor sport please visit the Disciplines section of this website, or the CAMS Manual of Motor Sport website which houses the NCR and associated regulations.

To apply to run an event, please refer to the Permit Process section of this website.
