Observed Licence Tests

In some disciplines competitors new to the discipline are required to undertake one or more Observed Licence Tests (OLT). All OLTs are conducted at a similar venue and on a similar terrain relevant to the licence application.

The purpose of an OLT is to evaluate the driver’s suitability for a CAMS competition licence. Drivers will be evaluated and observed for every aspect of their performance including:

  • The ease at which they cope with driving equivalent to competition requirements
  • Driver attitude and aptitude
  • Power of observation
  • Reaction times and observation of relevant rules

The evaluator(s) can only assess the driver on the activities undertaken, so it is imperative that drivers complete all activities on the day.

OLTs can be conducted by the following:

  • An approved CAMS private provider
  • A CAMS appointed OLT Evaluator

Prices may vary depending on discipline and provider. CAMS conduct several OLT days for new licence holders throughout the year.
