About the Institute

The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) has founded the Australian Institute for Motor Sport Safety (AIMSS) to promote improvements in the safety of motor sport and the relationship between motor sport and road safety in Australia.

The Institute, which is a non-regulatory body, aims to encourage excellence across all aspects of motor sport safety through research, education, and the coordination of safety-related programs. Its formation provides an important step in the evolving history of safety in motor sport.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Australian Institute for Motor Sport Safety is to be:
1. The Institute founded by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) to:
   a) promote improvements in the safety of motor sport.
   b) coordinate safety related programs of research and education and other safety initiatives.
   c) promote the relationship between motor sport and road safety.
   d) make representations to government and other organisations on motor sport safety.
2. The driving force for the improvement of safety in motor sport in Australia.
3. Recognised by Government for its expertise in motor sport safety.

Member Code of Practice

Professional and Corporate Members of the Australian Institute for Motor Sport Safety agree to abide by the following Member Code of Practice to:
1. Act with honesty and integrity in all dealings with other members of the motor sport industry.
2. Meet the highest standards of proficiency, experience and commercial competence.
3. Commit to the highest standards of quality and service in the supply of goods and services to the motor sport industry.
4. Affirm and endorse their responsibility to their clients under current State and Federal Legislation.
