CAMS has a number of awards to acknowledge individuals for their services to
motor sport and to CAMS. These awards include:
The highest recognition that can be conferred by CAMS upon any person for
services to motor sport in Australia.
Ranks immediately after the Award of Merit to be awarded to persons who have
been of long and valuable service to motor sport in Australia,
not necessarily within the ranks of CAMS.
Awarded to acknowledge service to the sport by individual members.
President of Honour
In 1994, CAMS created the position of "President of Honour" and conferred
it upon its longest serving President, (The Late) John Large after his retirement
from that position (1994-2006).
Chairman of Honour
In 1968, CAMS created the position of "Chairman of Honour" and conferred
it upon the first independent President, (The Late) Owen Grahame after his retirement
from that position (1968-1996).
Awarded for those whose services to Australian motor sport warrant
additional recognition above that provided by the conferment of the CAMS Service Award.
The Star is designed to fit between the honour of Life Membership and
the CAMS Service Award, and is typically awarded to a person who has
already received a Service Award and has continued to serve motor sport
in a manner which would justify them being awarded a second Service Award.
Awarded for services rendered to the sport over a long period.
Special recognition for those persons who, by their actions, have brought credit
to the sport and themselves, particularly by way of a single individual
action related to selflessness and consideration for others.
Awarded to recognise outstanding achievement by individual
Australian engineers or Australian engineering companies
devoted to serving competitive motor sport at world level.
Awarded to recognise outstanding achievement by an Australian competitor in international motor sport during the year.
The purpose of the Motor Sport Personality of the Year award is to recognise an individual
in the motor sport industry who is not necessarily the champion of their category, but who
is a good ambassador for Australian motor sport.
The purpose of the Australian and State Motor Sport Official of the Year awards is to recognise
outstanding achievements as a volunteer motor sport official.
