Two Australian officials have been appointed as Stewards for this weekend’s Formula 1™ Belgian Grand Prix.
Garry Connelly and Steve Chopping will act as Formula One Stewards for the Formula 1™ Belgian Grand Prix at the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
Both men are highly experienced officials, with Mr Connelly a regular among Stewards at Formula 1™ Grands Prix.
The position of Steward is vital to the successful running of a Grand Prix and it is a testament to the professionalism of Australian officials that Mr Connelly, the Deputy President of the FIA Institute, and Mr Chopping, a CAMS Life Member and Chairman of the Stewards for the V8 Supercar Championship Series, have been selected for these roles.
“It is somewhat of a coup to have two Australians officiating as Stewards at one of the great motor sport events for the year,” said David Morgan, CEO, CAMS.
“Not only will we have two Australians on the grid at Spa, but we’ll also have two highly expereienced Stewards presiding over the Grand Prix.”
