CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship
The Confederation of Australian Motor Sport's new single seater CAMS Australian Formula 4 Championship began in 2015.
Along with the FIA, CAMS has chosen Formula 4 as the future pathway for open wheel racing, bridging the gap between karting, Formula 3 and Formula 1.
2016 CAMS Jayco Australian Formula 4 Championship Calendar:
Round 1 – Tasmania SuperSprint, Symmons Plains: April 1–3
Round 2 – Phillip Island SuperSprint: April 15–17
Round 3 – Shannons Nationals, Sydney Motorsport Park: July 1–3
Round 4 – Ipswich SuperSprint, Queensland Raceway: July 22–24

The new category will focus on driver development rather than car development in order to minimise costs, will be both nationally and internationally relevant and integrate with the CAMS Driver Development Program. Drivers must be at least 15 years old.
The FIA has drawn up regulations that enable manufacturers to obtain homologation of their chassis and engines. With carbon-fibre monocoque meeting FIA F3 safety standards and engines developing around 150hp, the Formula 4 cars will provide young drivers with the perfect tool in which to learn about single-seater racing.
The success and credibility of a championship stems largely from the degree of technical fairness that exists between competitors.
Partnering with Jayco as major sponsor of the championship, CAMS has announced Ford as the engine partner with the sole tyre supplier being Hankook Tyre and Penrite Oil, the official oil supplier.
Six slick tyres will be available at each event per car, along with wet weather tyres available in the event of inclement weather.
