Subaru World Rally Team has announced the re-signing of Australia’s brightest rallying star, Chris Atkinson, for 2006. The 25 year-old will partner Petter Solberg in the 2006 FIA World Rally Championship, contesting all 16 rounds of the series with current co-driver Glenn Macneall.

Australian Chris Atkinson has finished ninth at the Rally Catalunya in Spain to claim his fifth top ten result since joining the Subaru World Rally Team at the start of the year. In only his third tarmac event Atkinson exceeded even his own expectations with the improvement he showed over the weekend on the unfamiliar Spanish stages which are the closest that the World Rally Championship comes to resembling circuit racing.

Team Australia has announced that it will campaign three cars in next week’s Lexmark Indy 300 on the streets of Queensland’s Gold Coast – the 12th round of the this year’s Champ Car World Series. Tragic end to Wales Rally GB

The 2005 Wales Rally GB, round 12 of the World Rally Championship came to a premature end in tragic circumstances on Special Stage 15 when Markko Martin's Peugeot was involved in an accident that fatally injured his British co-driver, Michael Park. The rally was stopped and the two remaining stages abandoned.
