CAMS 2019 affiliations open now

As the motor sport calendar winds down in readiness for the holiday season, CAMS affiliated car clubs are being encouraged to apply for 2019 affiliation.

There are a number of benefits in organising and lodging the affiliation paperwork ahead of the holiday season that include:

  • No interruption in the club’s insurance coverage with CAMS’ policies.
  • The Club’s members’ CAMS competitor licences remain valid over the holiday season, as CAMS competitor licence holders are required to be a member of a CAMS affiliated sporting car club*.  If the members are only a member of one club and the club is not currently affiliated, this may pose a problem if they are planning to compete in CAMS multiclub events prior to their club being affiliated in the new year.
  • CAMS permit applications may be held up while clubs complete the affiliation process.  This is especially important for those clubs proposing to stage events early in 2019.
  • Committee members can be pretty hard to contact over the holiday season, just like everyone else.  This can be particularly difficult if a cheque is required to be issued or countersigned.

CAMS offers an online option** to affiliate.  To check it out & see if it is something that your club would like to utilise, click here.

The prefilled affiliation paperwork has been sent out to the clubs affiliated with CAMS in 2018, so if any club is yet received it by the end of October, they must contact their local CAMS state office.

Car clubs who do not wish to wait until then can fill out blank 2019 Sporting and Enthusiast affiliation forms.

For more information concerning the insurance coverage offered through affiliation with CAMS, please see the following links:

The CAMS affiliation period aligns with the calendar year, the 2018 affiliation period ending at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Monday, 31 December 2018.

CAMS will close for 2018 on Thursday, 20 December 2018 and reopen on Monday, 7 January 2019 and there will be no processing of affiliation paperwork during this period.

*Please note they need to be a member of a CAMS affiliated sporting car club, not a CAMS affiliated enthusiast car club.  This is one of the major differences between the two affiliation types.  Should you require to clarify the affiliation type your club is affiliated as, please contact your local CAMS State Office.

**Please be mindful that this option is not suitable for clubs planning to pay its 2019 affiliation fee by cheque & that there is a transaction fee associated with this option.
