Ricciardo’s Racers graduate excels in racing debut

Untitled -1

Former Ricciardo’s Racers graduate Callum Potter has made his race meeting debut taking part in the Hyundai Excels category at the second round of the CAMS Victorian State Circuit Racing Championships.

The 14-year-old, who finished 27th overall in a 53 car field, showed promise all weekend finishing 28th and 26th in the first two races before saving his best result until last claiming 25th spot in the final race.

Callum’s father, Euan Potter was ecstatic with the result, crediting Ricciardo’s Racers as a major contributor to his son’s performance.

“What really helped Callum was the Riccardo's Racers junior programs he did from beginner to advanced classes,” Euan said.

“The jump from karting to cars is a massive step and running programs like Riccardo Racers at Sandown with such quality instructors to show them the proper driving techniques is so good.

“The braking limit exercise especially Callum did years ago made an instant impact on his driving technique and he continues to push the late braking limits today.”

Callum graduated the Ricciardo’s Racers program in 2017 after taking part in the Level 1 and Level 2 programs at Sandown Raceway.

The CAMS supported initiative aims to build confidence and skills in young drivers through professional driving instructors and multiple driving challenges.
