The 27th running of the iconic Targa Tasmania will get underway today, with three stages to be run in Launceston including the George Town Super Stage.
The event is also the second round of the 2018 CAMS Australian Targa Championship, with Targa North West winners Steve Glenney and Andy Sarandis leading the overall standigns.
Glenney will face fierce competition with six-time Targa Tasmania winners Jason and John White aboard a Dodge Viper Extreme aiming to defend their 2017 Tasmania win.
Over 200 cars will tackle the 2,000 kilometre course, across 33 competitive stages. A wide spectrum of cars will contest the rally, from contemporary supercars and high-performance vehicles, through to classic machinery.
The rally will conclude at Longley on Saturday, before transporting to Hobart’s waterfront for the official presentations.
