The 2013 Australasian Formula SAE competition is running from Thursday 12th – Monday 16th of December at Victoria University’s Industrial Skills Campus, Hoppers Lane, Werribee.
The Formula SAE Australasian competition was introduced in 2000, and attracts entries from Australia, New Zealand and across Asia.
Australasian teams have established themselves quickly as world-class competitors by taking outright victories in major US and European competitions.
Formula SAE-A is an exciting international education program where university students design, build and compete in small open-wheeled vehicles.
Teams compete in a series of events with each one scored to make a total of 1000 points.
Formula SAE-A is an important development experience for many of the country’s top young engineers and the ongoing support of the local industry is important to the growth of this event and the Australian engineering environment.
Formula SAE graduates worldwide are considered to be among the most work-ready graduates emerging from the university system.
In delivering a fully functioning vehicle, the student teams undertake a full, real-world product development project. They design, build and test their vehicles, but they also must also attend to the non-technical aspects of a project such as fund-raising, marketing and managing a team of people.
Each team effectively works as a small start-up business, and it is this experience that makes Formula SAE graduates stand apart from their peers.
The event begins Thursday 12 December and concludes with the Endurance Finals, BBQ dinner and Awards Ceremony, held from 4 pm onwards on Sunday the 15th.
SAE-A welcomes interest from the media or other interested parties in promoting this event and offers.
