March 8th, 2015 saw 13 motor sport mad ladies gather at the Big W Distribution Centre at Monarto to contest the first round of the 2015 Motorkhana Series.
Of 53 entrants, 13 of them were women, coinciding nicely with International Women's Day, which is celebrated on the 8th March every year and coincidentally saw one of the largest contingents of women competing at the Motorkhana than ever before.
On getting involved in motor sport, competitor, Sonya Flynn would encourage anyone to have a go...
"For many years I've helped out with officiating at motorkhanas. Last year, after being cajoled and encouraged I decided to have a go at a Come and Try. I had a ball. I enter whenever I can - the motorkhana community give me tips and get excited for me when I do well. I've also entered Hillclimbs at Collingrove and loved it. I would encourage anyone to get involved!"
