World karting champion to race on Gold Coast

Paolo De Conto

Dual CIK-FIA World Karting Championship winner Paolo De Conto will return to the Gold Coast in November as part of the Race of Stars event.

The 25-year-old will be back in Australia to defend his title, after taking out the international event in 2016.

"Visiting Australia last year was an amazing experience, the racing was very good and I really enjoyed meeting so many great people," De Conto said.

"Just like last year, my first race as world champion is going to be in Australia... I'm very much looking forward to the Race of Stars again.

"The Gold Coast was very beautiful and I can't wait to be back there next month."

De Conto will reunite with the CRG Australia team for his campaign down under, with Team Manager Darren King excited about his return.

"Working with Paolo for the first time at last year's Race of Stars was an incredible experience, his performance on the track was amazing but so too was the way he conducted himself off of it," King said.

"Having come fresh from victory in the world championship last weekend, he'll come here determined to provide a fantastic performance for everyone on the Gold Coast."

The 2017 Race of Stars will see more than 200 drivers from across Australia, New Zealand and various parts of the world race at the Xtreme Karting Complex on 13-15 October.
