Foster to race in World Endurance Championship

Australian racing driver Nick Foster has been announced as one of three drivers lining up at Gulf Racing for their 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship campaign.

Foster, who won the 2015 Australian Porsche Carrera Cup Series, will join Ben Barker and Mike Wainwright piloting the Porsche 991 RSR GTE at the season opening race at Silverstone.

"I'm extremely excited about the opportunity to compete in the 2017 WEC and can't wait for it to kick off!" Foster said.

"I am very grateful to Gulf Racing and proud that they have chosen me to join their team ... to compete in the WEC is a dream come true and in the famous Gulf Racing colours is an absolute honour.

"I know there are many challenges that lie ahead, but with strong pace and results for the team in 2017 we can look forward to challenging at the front in a very competitive PRO-AM category."

Matt Beers, Team Manager of Gulf Racing said Foster is a great addition to the team.

"It's great to have Ben [Barker] back with us as our Pro driver, he proved himself to be a match for the Porsche factory drivers in the same machinery during 2016, he is a real talent and we couldn't think of a omre suitable person for the job," Beers said.

"Nick is new to the team and the championship but has also proven his pace in the fiercely competitive German Carrera Cup Championship as well as the Australian series, he is a great fit to the team and represents our ethos of bringing young talent forward."

The team will come together for the first time in April for the WEC Prologue, where Foster will get his first taste of the car and begin the on-track programme.
